Graduation Requirements
To receive a high school diploma from North Conejos Alternative Program RE-1J, students must meet or exceed the district’s course and credit requirements and Career and College readiness measures required by this policy or complete the requirements and goals listed on a student’s Education Program. (IEP)
Courses and Credit Required for Graduation
- Beginning with the graduating class of 2021, twenty-six (26) credits shall be required to graduate from NCAP.
- Four years of attendance shall be required unless early graduation or senior release is applied for and approved in keeping with School Board polices.
- All students will be required to take coursework that meets Colorado State Standards in the following areas:
- English – 4 credits
- Mathematics – 3 credits
- Science – 3 credits
- Social Studies – 3 credits
- Foreign Language – 1 credit
- Physical Education – 1 credit
- Electives – 11 credits
In addition to coursework, the following must be met:
- CDE Career and College Readiness measures for English
- CDE Career and College Readiness measures for Mathematics
- All students entering from outside the district must meet the district graduation requirements.
The Principal shall determine whether the credit toward graduation requirements shall be granted for courses taken outside the district. He/She may require submission of the student’s work or other proof of the student’s academic performance for each course for which credit toward graduation is sought.
- In accordance with District policy, college courses, online courses, online academic school courses, or any credit recovery program shall count as credit toward completion of the district’s credit requirements after approval from school Principal
Career and College Readiness
The Colorado State Board of Education has adapted state graduation guidelines that identify Career and College readiness measures in English and Mathematics. The North Conejos School Board has selected its own measures from these graduation guidelines.
English
Students must complete at least one of the following measures and meet or exceed the measure’s corresponding cut score or criteria to demonstrate Career and College readiness in English.

Score of at least 62 on Reading Comprehension OR 70 on Sentence Skills
Industry Certificate that demonstrates academic and intellectual learning in the subjects of English
All of Centauri High School students have the opportunity to enroll in CTE (Career and Technical Education) classes. Successfully completion of one course of study, (Auto Mechanics, Welding, Building Trades, Business Tech) will serve as an adequate demonstration of Career and College Readiness in English and Math.
District Capstone project the demonstrates academic and intellectual learning in the subject of English (Communication)
In addition to completion of approved capstone project, the district will consider above average accomplishments in career and Technical Students Organization Performance or objective Competitive Events as demonstrations of career and College Readiness in English and Math
ACT Assessment
Score of at least 18 on English
Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in English
Score of at least a 2
Mathematics
