About the Teacher

Clint Huffaker
Hi, my name is Clint Huffaker. I am a native to the San Luis Valley, and more specifically to the Bountiful
area, where I currently reside. I attended school at Romeo, Manassa, Capulin and graduated High
School at Centauri. I lived in Mexico for a couple of years after high school, then returned to the valley
to attend college at Adams State. I earned a BA and an MA at Adams. I graduated with a degree in
Secondary Ed, Spanish and Ed leadership. Adams state had discontinued their vocational arts program,
so I had to pursue my CTE credentials through field experience. I wanted to teach welding at the high
school level since I was a welding student at CHS, so I acquired my CTE credentials to be highly qualified.
I acquired employment with the South Conejos School District upon graduating college. I taught at
Antonito Jr./Sr. High for 25 years. Because South Conejos is a small district, I had the opportunity to
teach a variety of subjects including: Spanish, Welding, ESL, American history, World History, Colorado
history, P.E., weight lifting, economics, Government, and probably some others that I can’t presently
remember. I also was the AD, coached basketball, drove bus and covered for the Admin when they
were out of the building. I prefer teaching welding above all other subjects. Three years ago, when the
opportunity to teach welding full time at Centauri became available, I jumped on it like a rat on a
Cheeto. This is my third year as a welding instructor here at North Conejos. I really enjoy teaching here
and love being in the shop all day. I have several students that, while they tend to struggle in the regular
classroom setting, excel in this environment. I literally am “Livin the Dream”.
