Aedgar@northconejos.com
My name is Austin Edgar, and I am a first-year 6th grade math teacher at Centauri Middle School. While this is my first formal experience in education, I have spent the last 12 years coaching football and baseball, which has given me valuable experience working with young people. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and though my background isn’t directly in teaching, I’ve found that the skills I developed in business and coaching have helped me in the classroom. Both of my parents worked in education, so the field has always been part of my life. I’m married to my wonderful wife, Audrey Edgar, and we have four amazing kids: Roman (14), Hadley (10), Maverick (6), and Brooks, who is almost 2. Outside of teaching, my hobbies include hunting, camping, and spending time in the mountains with my family. I’m also a huge Ohio State football and Dallas Cowboys fan, and I’ve been fortunate to coach many successful football and baseball teams. Being active outdoors and involved in sports are big parts of my life, and I bring that same passion to my work in the classroom.

I graduated from Adams State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, where I developed a deep appreciation for the complexities of the human mind and the importance of emotional well-being. This foundation fueled my commitment to education and led me to pursue a Master’s degree in School Counseling.
At North Conejos, I have the incredible opportunity to work with students as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of their formative years. I find immense joy in helping them explore their feelings, develop strong character traits, and build resilience. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where every student feels heard and valued. I believe that fostering emotional intelligence is just as important as academic achievement, and I am dedicated to guiding my students on this journey.
I was born and raised in La Jara, Colorado, which has instilled in me a deep appreciation for my community. I am married to Bart Shawcroft, and together we have three wonderful children: Byron, Carson, and Braelyn. Family is incredibly important to me, and I cherish the time we spend together.
In my free time, I love to read and immerse myself in a good book. I also enjoy spending time in the mountains, where I find peace and inspiration. Watching my children pursue their passions—whether it’s farming, sports, or riding horses—brings me immense joy and pride. They inspire me every day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support them in doing what they love.
