Pausing Traditional School

NCSD,

We will be converting to a different method of instruction, transitioning to other distance methods of educational delivery, with the intent to return to normal school operation on MondayApril 20th.  Therefore, students will not attend physically, as we do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.    ****PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GOVERNOR WILL BE ANNOUNCING SCHOOL CLOSURE/PAUSE FOR THE STATE OF COLORADO, AND MAY SUPERSEDE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND PLANNING.  We will communicate that press announcement immediately after his remarks.  Our plan will change immediately to align with that official announcement.
All NCSD staff will be meeting on Monday, March 23rd, and Tuesday, March 24th, to plan for the temporary transition to Google classroom, Facetime, email and Google hangouts for instructional delivery, as well as paper copy assignment packets.   Students can expect to receive instruction delivered on Wednesday, March 25th, and the exact method for the age of your child and building they attend will be communicated as soon as feasible by building principals.  Please look for that communication on our website at www.northconejos.com or our NCSD Facebook page, or in communication from principals via SchoolMessenger.
Meals will be made available, and to request meals during this time, email Amber at ammartinez@northconejos.com or call and leave a message on her direct line at 719-274-3901.   We will be running routes for meal delivery, and those exact points of drop off, and the time of drop off will be posted shortly.
Students in grades 6-12 can prepare now by insuring their school-issued account login (Google Account) is accessible;  you may email Brad Huffaker at bhuffaker@northconejos.com for any assistance necessary.
Mandatory state assessments have been paused for this academic year.
For students who do not have access to the internet or lack a device, please contact your principal or email bhuffaker@northconejos.com, or know that access points outside the school are already set up, and from the parking lot at any school, students may access the web.
Our NCSD school plan is to provide the best instruction under trying circumstances, and am confident our great staff can deliver great educational learning given our challenges.  We want to step up and do our part to mitigate the spread of a pandemic disease, and yet take care of the most valued commodity we have......our students.  I am confident we will get through this successfully.  We encourage any questions and communications to be directed to our administration at each building, who will be providing direction as it pertains to your child.
As a matter of information, all SLV school districts and our SLV BOCES are following these guidelines.  I will expeditiously communicate any new information, alteration or changes to this plan as I am positive you have questions, and hope to provide the information you need to feel confident going forth.   I hope for the safety and health of our entire NCSD School Community.

Most Respectfully,

Curt Wilson
Superintendent, North Conejos RE-1J
